Book #2 from the series: Porter Brothers Series

Sky High: A Porter Brothers Novel

About

Planning a wedding party is easy—if Nina Scott can manage to stay out of Angelou Porter’s bed.

Nina has built her career managing other people’s reputations. Guarded, confident, and determined, she doesn’t have time for love—especially not with a man like Angelou, whose tattoos, swagger, and smooth charm hide grief he hasn’t quite learned how to let go.

But when they reconnect in Paris during her best friend’s engagement and return home as maid of honor and best man, sparks reignite fast. What was supposed to be casual quickly becomes complicated, and what started in secret soon feels impossible to ignore.

Between champagne toasts, wedding chaos, and late-night confessions, Nina and Angelou find themselves standing at the edge of something real. But love isn’t simple—and neither of them knows if they’re ready to fall.

Because sometimes the biggest risk is believing you deserve the happily ever after you never planned for.

Praise for this book

DH Renfroe Does It AGAIN!!!
After reading Creative Differences, I was HIGHLY INTRIGUED with Angelou and Nina’s story so I had to get this book. I was here for the shenanigans. First things first, I’m so in love with the writing style of this author. I NEED MORE, MORE, MORE. She’s starting to become my favorite author.
This book gave me all the feels reading it. I laughed out loud, yelled at my Kindle, and even felt an ache in my heart as I read Angelou navigate through loss and grief.
I had to chuckle when I saw that story started with a spicy love scene. No time was wasted. Already 2 pages in and things were getting HOT. But I can say that DH has a way with words. That Angelou is something dangerous lol. He’s a MENACE 🌶️❤️‍🔥
The passion, love, and even heartbreak that Angelou and Nina shared really made the story full. It was so interesting and humbling to read about Angelou cracking under his tough exterior especially when Nina was in the hospital. My heart bled for both of them and even gently touched on some triggers of my own. It shows that love not matter how messy will see them through.
There were some very profound moments of wisdom that I needed to hear along with some quotes that had me reeling. The word play was INSANE. I definitely will be reading this again. I look forward to what else DH has in store next.

So Much More Than a Romance
Sky High was such an emotional and beautifully layered story. I didn’t expect to feel it as deeply as I did, but something about Lou’s journey really got to me. There’s this quiet heaviness he carried that made me empathize with him from the very beginning. His grief, his guilt, and his attempt to keep it all together—it was raw and real in a way. Even as I’m writing this, I’m getting emotional.

The bond between the Porter men was absolutely top tier. Even while each of them was working through their own pain, they still found ways to show up for one another. That sense of brotherhood and unspoken love grounded the story and added such a meaningful layer beyond the romance.

And speaking of the romance—Nina and Angelou’s chemistry was undeniable. Their connection was messy, passionate, and full of vulnerability. Watching them navigate their emotions and figure out if love was worth the risk felt both heartbreaking and annoying (at times) but mostly hopeful.

Sky High isn’t just about falling in love—it’s about healing, forgiveness, and believing you’re worthy of happiness. This one will stick with me for a while.
